Biography

Brian Duffy attended the Universitiy of Wisconsin and the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. Duffy was the editorial cartoonist for the Des Moines Register beginning in 1983, where he followed two Pulitizer Prize winners in the position, Ding Darling and Frank Miller. Duffy's career at the Register ended abruptly in 2008 when his position was terminated by the company during budget cutbacks. His cartoons continue to appear in newspapers and on websites nationwide through King Features Syndicate. He is the staff editorial cartoonist for KCCI TV in Des Moines and is also cartoonist for an alternative weekly newspaper CityView. On the national level, he serves as the cartoonist for The Hightower Report. He has done posters and illustrations for many local and national companies. He has received two Best of Gannett awards, two World Hunger Media awards and was a finalist for the prestigious John Fischetti Award for editorial cartooning. He has published two books: A Decade of Duffy and More of Duffy.J
