Finlay defines swatchway as a channel across a bank, or among shoals. The pages comprises three rows of colored papercard stock, brown on either side and deep blue in the middle. The pages are cut to progressively longer dimensions to provide the appearance of two banks bordering a channel of water. The eight colored prints play off the image of the Pansey, the flower as a camouflaged image of Panzer, the German armored tank. A section of this book is entitled, "Detached Sentances on Camouflage: In the Manner of Shenstone. William Snenstone (1714-1763) was a poet and gardner.
