The exhibition consisted of books, manuscripts and works on paper from the collection of Grolier Club members. "The Heart of A Humument" from the Sackner Archive was exhibited and illustrated in the catalogue. George Koppelman exhibited Charles Bukowski's "The Genius of the Crowd," Cleveland:7 Flowers Press, 1966 (hand printed and illustrated by da levy). He purchased it for less than $1.00 from Jim Lowell, Asphodel Book Shop at the time of publication. The colophon called for 103 copies but about 40 copies survived since the rest were destroyed by the Cleveland police. The hand-made card for Ruth Sackner's 67th birthday is based on Shaker furniture and Marvin Sackner's medical platform that shakes the patient releasing nitric oxide. Clippings written and collaged by Marcia Teichner read, "Notice to our patrons - Sister Ruth Sackner - First Lady of the Shaker Table - Celebrates Birthday! Scope and Contents Henri Chopin Avant-garde pioneer of sound poetry Frédéric Acquaviva Tuesday February 5, 2008 The Guardian: "Towards the end of the second world war, Henri Chopin, who has died aged 85, escaped from a forced labour camp in Olomouc, in what is now the Czech Republic, after it had been bombed. He then spent time with the advancing Red Army, until, recaptured by the Germans, he and inmates of concentration and extermination camps were sent west on a Nazi "death march." Thousands died on those journeys and it was then that he listened to the voices of his fellow marchers, sounds which would infuse his work for the rest of his life. In the 1950s Henri created sound poetry, capturing breaths and cries made by his voice and body. He was, said his friend William Burroughs, an "inner space explorer", but the Frenchman remained a solitary figure, outside any artistic grouping, almost the only exponent of his art, and almost certainly the only poet to record sounds and movements by swallowing...

Scope and Contents On page 52 and 53 a hologram "Adrift" (1991) by Kac is acknowledged and illustrated to be in the collection of the Sackner Archive. In another publication Kac has described this work, "Adrift is composed basically of seven words that dissolve in space and into each other as the viewer reads them. In one case, the reader may be invited to start reading from the letter which is further away from him or her. In another case, the letter closer to the reader could be the starting point. The letters that make the words are floating irregularly along several Z axes, except for the word 'breathe', which is integrated into the overall light field. This word is blown by an imaginary wind as its letters actually move away from their original position to dissolve the light field. Trinkewitz attached two panels of found papers and papercards from magazines, books and advertisements etc., cut to the size of match book covers, to a board collaged with an undecipherable, linear fragmented text with bold typefaces. These elements include images of Schwitters, Trinkewitz, Kolar, beautiful women, envelopes, receipts, maps, magazine pages, stamps etc. The verso has a signature dated 1984 at the Visual Poetry Conference in Saarbruchen, Germany. A photocopied group photographic portrait depicts Ruth and Marvin Sackner among poets at a visual poetry conference held in Sarrbrucken, West Germany in 1984.
