Dada Miriam
‘Dada Miriam’ is a combination of ‘Dada’ like the movement and Miriam a traditional name. I performed with Kurt Schwitters. It has short pieces of performed poetry that deals with cutting the syllables. I made a lot of devices and new meanings out of it and sometimes I suspend the meaning. The first part ‘What is the Meaning of Life?’ is based on pure Hebrew. It is my voice on low speed in a man’s voice on the tape I moved from low to fast speed. I played the tape Representation of Location as a Mode of Object-Relation: Tel-Aviv as a Transitional-Object of Avoth Yeshurun”.
• Power Point file 2: Samples of visual poetry
CD No. 2 (one audio file)
The musician Nathan Solomon set my poem ‘Hummingbird’ to music. There are also long (8 min.) and short (4 min.) videos of our collaboration on DVD elsewhere in the collection (see below). The video can also be found at http://www.artistinaction.net/.

I played the tape like a piano and I could make two figures out of my manipulations out of the bottom of the speed. Miriam is a common name but I wanted to make ‘Dada’ more personal. ‘Doda’ in Hebrew is Aunt which makes it more personal. In this piece I take a word and then when I cut it and when I speak there is a whole ceremony around this small piece of words and it becomes a lingual plot. It has stories within stories. The laugh is an imitation of my Aunt, which is Doda Miriam when she is calling my father. There are ten pieces. I am making the question dance. ‘Nefetch’ in Hebrew is soul/spirit from this I made ‘ketchup’ it’s as if the boy is trying to copy it but it becomes something else. These are pieces that could not be in a book and I took some out of a book.
