THINGS HAVING TO DO WITH WORLD WAR II

 Series — Box: 1

Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

Papers, mostly photographs, from a family who lived in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area. The names mentioned are Mrs. Don Bartholomew, Vera Bartholomew, Gladys Bartholomew and her brother Harry Cook, Harry Smith, Will Doxey, Frank Smith, Sadie Smith, Floy Piper, Aunt Lila, Unclel Peter, and Maggie Stuhlmiller.

There are a few snapshots here, most notably of a barn raising, probably taken in the 1920s.

Places mentioned are Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Bradgate, Vinton, LaPorte City, Waucoma, all in Iowa. Fargo, Chicago, and New York City are all studios at which some of these portraits were taken.

This collection is important for students of photography because of the range of materials included here, among them tin types and a cyanotype.
