A legible cookery manuscript of approximately 360 recipes, 345 of which are in a single hand. Recipes range from asparagus salad to Spanish sausage to how to prepare sardines to almond tortes. An earlier owner has attributed the recipes to Southern Germany, possibly the Upper Palatinate. --From bookshop note laid in the item Also includes more modern bookplate,name Hans Gieraths with woodbock print style image of a bearded, barefoot man sitting on a brick (bread oven?) holding a peel or shovel.

Physical Description

90 numbered manuscript leaves of recipes, 264 blank leaves, followed by 47 ruled leaves of index. Contemporary vellum, one clasp complete, another with only a portion remaining. Bits of red and black wax on inside of front cover. Stiched headbands
