Scope and Contents
The Doris Preucil papers date from 1958 to 2004 and measure 2.5 linear inches in one box.Additional digital materials are stored in the UI Libraries' digitial storage. The papers are arranged in one series, General. The collection contains materials from some of Preucil's performances with the Preucil Family Players, a group that consisted of her, her husband Bill, and their four children. But the majority of the papers cover Doris Preucil's instructional and musical career teaching with the Suzuki method. The collection includes newspaper clippings and recital programs from the Preucil School of Music, as well as two issues of the School's newsletter, Fanfare. It also has one flyer from the Iowa City Suzuki String Ensemble, which Preucil also ran and which predated the Preucil School. Additionally, the Doris Preucil papers document Preucil's involvement in Suzuki teaching outside of her school in Iowa City, with promotional materials from The Suzuki Association of the Americas and the American Suzuki Institute, a program from her time as a professor of music at Western Illinois University, and one example of her professional writing: "The Development
