The Lois Novitsky Friedman papers date from 1929 to 2007 and measure 10 linear inches.

The biographical folder contains a confirmation service program for Mount Sinai Congregation in Sioux City, Iowa, and Friedman’s certificate of confirmation.

The correspondence folder includes letters between Friedman and her father, from family members and friends. The correspondence folder also includes a letter to Friedman from Allan Sherman, a school-mate of Friedman’s and future American comedy writer and television producer.

The Center Press is the Sioux City, Iowa Youth Council’s annual yearbook. The folder of University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana newsletters includes the following publications: Hillel Post, MU Views, The Rhozette, AWR News, The Reporter, L.B. Tattler, PSI Spy, and Super Snooper. The Reporter specifically attributes Friedman as the editor and publisher while Friedman’s name is mentioned throughout the content of the other publications.

In addition to photographs of family and friends, there are three folders of general photographs. The first general folder of photographs includes a 1939 photograph of the Youth Council King and Queen and their court. The third folder contains a photograph of a confirmation class, a photograph of the Robert Hunter Class No. 60 of 1936 (Sioux City, Iowa), and a photograph of A.W.R class of 1929.

The scrapbook contains event programs for piano recitals, confirmation, class plays, telegrams, holiday cards. The newspaper clippings relate to Friedman’s involvement in the AZA Jewish Youth Association, Honor Role, and fashion shows. The scrapbook also contains Friedman’s diploma, wedding/engagement announcements of family and friends, invitations, a fraternity membership certificate, and a summary of jobs Friedman held during college.
