The Jane Ann Boelter Riggs papers date from 1939 to 2015 and measure three linear feet in seven boxes. The papers are arranged in five series: Biographical, Education, Professional, Family History, and Journals.

The Biographical series (1947-2002) holds materials relating to Boelter Riggs’ early life, including a book detailing her first seven years made by her mother, Eileen Boelter. The series includes photographs.

The Education series (1963-2015) relates to Boelter Riggs’ time in school at Jefferson High School in Independence, Iowa and the University of Iowa. The series holds her yearbooks, photographs from her time in high school, papers written in college and graduate school, and awards. This series also contains materials about Boelter Riggs’ junior high school and high school reunions.

The Professional series (1976-1985) contains papers about Boelter Riggs’ teaching and counseling career. There are also copies of Boelter Riggs’ resume and materials relating to professional development, conferences, and events she attended.

The Family History series (1939-1973) holds genealogical research and papers of Boelter Riggs’ parents, Joseph “Chesty” and Eileen Boelter, including photographs from their travels. The series is completed by materials relating to the centennial anniversary of Rowley, Iowa’s founding.

The Journals series (1961-2001) holds journals kept by Jane Ann Boelter Riggs through most of her adult life and detail her day-to-day experiences. This includes candid discussion of her relationship with food, her body, and her mental health.
