Biographical / Historical

Julia J. Peterson was born in Moline, Illinois in 1908. She graduated from the State University of Iowa (now the University of Iowa) with high honors, and was then employed by the University as Assistant to the Director of the Iowa Testing Programs and as a senior editor. She wrote The Iowa Testing Programs: The First Fifty Years. Peterson was also the author of prize-winning poetry and prose with many of her pieces appearing in literary publications. She died in Iowa City at the age of 100 in 2008.
