Biographical / Historical
In January 1976, the Maine-Oakton-Niles Adult and Continuing Education Program (MONACEP), Oakton Community College, and the Northern Illinois Industrial Association developed an Advisory Committee for Business and Industry with representatives from businesses in the north suburban Chicago area. This committee suggested creating a support organization for women already in and entering management positions. Thus Women in Management, Inc. was created.
In 1994, Della McGrath helped establish a Women in Management chapter in Iowa City. This chapter held regular meetings and seminars, discussing topics like change management, creativity, and avoiding identity theft. By 2010, membership had declined, so the chapter was discontinued.
