Scope and Contents

The Laurie Haag papers date from 2009 and measure 0.25 linear inches plus an oversized poster housed in the Map Case. The papers consist of three speeches Haag gave at the Jean Y. Jew award ceremony as well as Tess Catalano's celebration of life. They also contain a poster designed by Haag in 2009 that depicts Grant Wood's "American Gothic" as a gay couple in celebration of Iowa Marriage Equality passing the Iowa Supreme Court.

Biographical / Historical

Laurie Haag grew up in central Illinois and came to the University of Iowa to earn a graduate degree in Communications. She became an active member of the Women Resource Action Center (WRAC). She later became the Director of WRAC. Haag is also an artist, photographer and a musician, and was the founder and director of the Iowa Women’s Music Festival and Girls Rock! Iowa City.
