XII/3 Although Dante's description of the Minotaur is ambiguous, he leaves us in no doubt as to the form of the Centaurs. The three depicted here are constructed from fragments of an advertisement for Marlboro cigarettes (cf. 20 Sites n Years) and the border is an extended repeat of a design motif from a packet of Gitanes.
