Scope and Contents

The print collection deals mainly with the works of American artists supported by the WPA program during the great depression of the 1930s. One such artist was Samuel Margolies who was Dr Sackner's patient. Margolies gave Dr. Sackner several of his prints from the period and planned to donate his entire Archive to Sackner but shortly prior to getting everything together, a fire broke out in his studio and destroyed all his works that were stored there. Hersh Cohen, owner of the American prints, provided an excellent essay on his art collecting experiences. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
