Scope and Contents
Issue No.20. A collage, "Goldfish" by Taro Shinoda depicts a central image of a photocopied chest roentgenogram with right hilar enlargement and a rubberstamped label, + cancer. Two stooped human silhouettes flank the chest x-ray. In the lower half, goldfish and a receipt for its purchase are shown. The collage might be interpreted as depression received after diagnosis of lung cancer despite acquisition of a prized, material possession which in Japanese culture is the goldfish (aka carp). -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
