Steven Allen Carlson Papers
The Papers of Steven Allen Carlson consist primarily of journals he began to write while a high school student and continued until 2015. The papers also include his high school yearbooks, photographs and slides, sales books from his record business, a draft of a novel “Full House Empty Seats,” house message books, exhibit information, and a textile high school project. Many photographs and other material, such as brochures and event keepsakes, are intermingled within the journals.
The journals provide a unique and intimate perspective on the emergence and growth of Iowa City’s gay community during the 1960s-2000s.
Please note the collection includes nudity and homoerotic images.

Writer born in Cedar Rapids. Collection includes extensive pre-publication materials for Mossman's highly regarded novel, The Stones of Summer (1972) as well as drafts written while a student in the Writer's Workshop.

The Student Guides and Handbooks Collection consists of titles that were produced to orient incoming freshmen and transfer students, or to provide general information to the student body at large. The Student Legal Services Photographs Collection consists of large-format (about 16 by 20) color images of student and professional staff employed at SLS, located in the Iowa Memorial Union at the time the photographs were created. The collection spans 1992 to 2006.
