The cards in this catalogue are samples of the nearly 50,000 paper library cards collected and altered with handwriting and images by community volunteers to create wall surfaces in the new San Francisco Library. The card catalogue was replaced with a computer database. The book consists of recording each day by shooting 36 photographs, one every 20 minutes between 8 AM and 8 PM, then rewinding the film and mailing it to a distant friend who is asked to repeat the process. This print was constructed according to rules of the golden section but most of the lines have been erased even though this version is designated as the final proof. The print was not editioned but a musical piece with the same title was cokmposed in 1991.
