The pages in this book depict abstract patterns made by applying black, gold and silver pigment with a fingerprinting technique to the pages. Interspersed among these fingerprints, Genis has drawn untranslatable, repetitive hieroglyphs and abstract markings. This book object was constucted from strips of foam board to give it its unconventional shape. Strips of handwritten texts about 3 mm wide were collaged onto the cardboard overlying the foam board construction. Paint was also applied to some portions of the collaged surface. Roland Sabatier contributed a critical essay, "Commonplaces and Tautology in the Photographs of Frederique Devaux." The first seven copies of this book contain a drawing and the signed photographs, the next 10 copies only the photograph. The original poems describing fabulous (imaginative) beasts were composed by De La Tour Du Pin. Jean Lucat created 14 illustrations of the beasts that were colored by Edmond Vairel.
