This exhibition of 29 former students of Walter Hamady was named for the typography studio in room 6451 in the Humanities Building at the University of Wisconsin. Each artist in the exhibition presented a statement of how Hamady influenced their artistic careers. Make a Joyful Noise, 1988
Denoted as #15 of 6th series of musical books. Consists of three blocks of hollowed painted wood that have moveable metal objects within them to give sounds when shakened. Pelieu appropriated a hard cover comic strip book and collaged other cut-up comic strips and advertisements onto each page. The order of these collage additions into this book was probably random, an analogy to the cut-up technique popularized by Gyson and Burroughs for literature and poetry. Although unsigned and undated, the spine is collaged with the header of the London Sunday Times August 27 1972.This work was once in the possession of William Burroughs according to Richard Aaron of Am Here Books. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
