 Item
Identifier: CC-32066-33601
Scope and Contents

This calligraphic book on Fabiano papers was commissioned by Marvin Sackner for Ruth as a 63rd birthday present. Lalou wrote the story English using black ink lettering at the bottom of nine pages. These pages and four additional pages without Biblical text are decorated with calligraphic renderings of the Hebrew names Ruth, Naomi and Boaz. Other pages are rendered with drawings of alephs, Hebrew letters, stripes of inked lines, and text from the Book of Ruth in English and Hebrew. The final page is dramatically rendered in black Hebrew text and abstract bands of blue, red, orange and yellow colors. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
