Nullity / Bernard, Kenneth., 2000
This book is bound with marbled paper over limp boards, green linen spine. It was hand set and printed on a Vandercook press by Walter Hamady. Three unbound copies were made in addition to the 100 copies. There is a real typewriter keyshaft attached in the binding of the book (the letter "V") that almost appears as a bookmark. This one anamorphically mulling life's exigencies via the lensing metaphor of a typewriter. (His) original handwitten text; the first typewritten draft, hand corrected: and the first rough setting of a "typewriter typeface" transmogrify into an ultimate readability Bernard's text on the untimely discarding of typewriters - or is it people our society prematurely abandon. The printing plate is a handwritten text dating 2/14/92 that is printed in the book as a facing pages spread; it was a gift to the Sackners from Hamady. Selected as one of the "Fifty Books of the Year" 1996 AIGA. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.

Oab 2, 1983
In Volume 2 of this bookwork, Zend continues the history of his imaginary character, Oab who plays word games with his own creation, Irdu. The character Ardo, who is a mystic dealing with the fourth dimension, is introduced. Some of the mathematical content in the beginning of this volume is reminiscent of Abbott's "Flatland." -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.

Observationes Anatomicae Vol 33 / Seille, Genevieve., 1989
This book depicts typical imagery of Seille's work, viz. surrealistic, impossibly constructed, human figures, automatic handwriting in different calligraphic styles, lists of numbers and labels unrelated to image or text are present in the book and on two facing pages which depict the lungs as one to four chambers in five pseudo-humanistic figures. Although the obsessive calligraphy and strange visual imagery resemble artwork done by artists in mental institutions (outsiders), Seille is not an outsider. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
