The book consists of 44 visual poems that utilize rebuses to depict political messages dealing with the suffering of Jews during WWII in France. They are placed one to a page with documentation on the facing page. The poems consist of grids of Hebrew letters and mathematical formulas mixed with line drawings of images and pictograms that are presented with either black print on a white background or white print on a black background.
