Andrew Topol described to the Sackners during a visit with his wife Crystal that the three artists collaborated on this work by sending the drawings to each other for their additions. The orange spray paint and the painted calligraphic markings are by Andrew Topol. Jim Leftwich did the sponged black markings. John M. Bennett added his colored scrawls and the collaged elements. Red Dor [Red Door] / Steen, Vagn., 1963
The Danish words "red" and "dor" are superimposed in large black typefaces and set upon the red background of this print. The image is also reproduced in Steen's book "riv selv," that is also held by the Sackner Archive. *WEB Steen 2002. According to Steen, this silkscreen was printed in 1963. He was uncertain as to whether it was done in 1963 or 1964. The poem is mirrored so that the viewer can also read it from the verso. Steen takes the Danish word for red (ROD), and mirrors the first letter, If the reader views it from behind, and gets the Danish word for door (DOR). -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.

The text consists mainly of dense overtyping of repetitive phrases collaged onto cardboard as a 2 x 3 grid such as "interior of my sphere," "thee like Ra, he praises," etc. The frottaged image in the middle right grid is a bony thorax overlaid by letraset formed words, SCARAB and SCARAB. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
