This periodical is one of the most important experimental calligraphic and typographic contributions of the early sixties. The Diensts' redesigned the letters in Allen Ginsberg's poem, "To an Old Post in Peru" so that the A became a triangle, the I an elongated rectangle, and the E three parallel lines. This is physically the smallest book published by the Press. Ring Piece documents Hendricks' performance at the 8th Annual New York Avant Garde Festival in 1971. In the middle of Manhattan's 69th Regiment Armory (famous for housing the Armory Show in 1913). Hendricks sat in silent meditation for twelve hours, dressed in a tuxedo atop a mound of dirt under which lay buried various relics of his ten-year marriage to Bici Forbes (aka Bici Hendricks). The relics had been slightly altered (sliced or rent in two) in a ceremony of the divorce itself. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
