UBU ICI / Luis, Carlos M.., 2010

 Item
Identifier: CC-52071-73173
Scope and Contents

This is the third work created by Carlos Luis on Ubu. He writes that Ubu "represents everything that is grotesque, mischievous, cruel, arbitrary and dictatorial in our world. UBU could be a present day tyrant using his power (in front of a government or a corporation), to subjugate others. UBU is an archtype." The video is by Daniel Vinoly which adds to Carlos Luis' renderings a sense of black humor that forms an intrinsic part of Jarry's creation. The image of the handcolored print is reminiscent of works of Zush. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
