[Untitled] / Waanders, Hans., 1993

 Item
Identifier: CC-00493-505
Scope and Contents This artist book itself lists artist books made by the author. Hans Waanders, who died in 2001, was a modern artist, bicyclist, bird watcher, bookmaker and explorer. He traveled around the world in search of the majestic Kingfisher bird. The Kingfisher lives near ponds, lakes, rivers and oceans. Hans became intrigued by the Kingfisher while observing them at his home near the Maas River in the Netherlands. This inspiring wonder is a brightly colored bird that dives in and hovers over the water to catch its meals of small water animals and insects. Its regal presence, amazing flight patterns during water diving and beautiful colors inspired Hans since childhood. Hans created many prints, artist books, paintings, writings, and installations about water, air, travel, environment, and imagination. He used the clever blue Kingfisher as a symbol of courage, power, and harmony with water, nature, and the universe. Hans expressed these themes in his many handmade books. -- Source of...
