This is Carl Andre's first one man show in a musem and his first catalogue. Johannes Cladders wrote the German text for the book object. All the English texts are in Andre's own handwriting and appear to be printed offset though another process might have been used. This review of the exhibition "Carl Andre: Sculpture as Place, 1958- 2010" at Dia: Beacon is by Holland Cotter. It describes how "Writing poetry was Mr. Andre's initial calling...Even if he had not gone on to art, the poetry would be of interest. And in it, the sculptor-to-be is already evident. The typed carbon drawing entitled, "Conquest Display" that was once held by the Sackner Archive is depicted in this catalogue.
