General
The South Prairie rural school building is shown just after it had been set into place on the grounds northwest of the Stewart Elementary School here this past week. The South Prairie School building is one of four rural schools which are being moved in to be used for extra classroom space at the two grade schools.; The trio of smiling people above are shown looking at an official government certificate which, along with a silver pin, was awarded to Mrs. L.D. Carris, in recognition of her more than 15 years of service in the position of clerk at the local selective service office. Pictured with Mrs. Carris are Col. Glenn R. Bowles of Ft. Des Moines, right, State Director of the Selective Service, who presented the pin and certificate to Mrs. Carris, and Loren Robertson of Washington, left, member of the local selective service board. The two other mem.bers of the local board, not pictured above, are Marion S. McAvoy of Washington and James L. Quinn of Answorth.
