Fifty-seven local youths who are scheduled to go to this year's summer camp at Camp Abe Lincoln were given physical examinations by Dr. G.E. Montgomery and Dr. Edward J. Vosika. Looking as though he is taking it all in rather seriously while being examined by Dr. Vosika, above, is Guy Pratt. The youngsters will be taken to the week-long summer camp by army trucks which will leave Washington at noon Monday, July 27. Camp Abe Lincoln is located midway between Davenport and Muscatine.; This year's summer program sponsored by the local YMCA includes a variety of recreational activities for age groups ranging from the younger set in the Summer Fun Club to the teenagers and young adults and members of the Senior Citizens Club. Jim Rosien, who is in charge of the Babe Ruth and Little League baseball teams and the Summer Fun Club, is shown giving a few coaching instructions on the proper defensive play at first base to Joe Pollock, member of the Babe Ruths and son of Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Pollock.; Shown in the picture talking with Jim Morrison, right, who assisted with the leadership of the club, are Mike Richart, left, son of Mr. and Mrs Jim Richart, and David Gregory, center, son of Dr. and Mrs. D.W.
