Scope and Contents
The bulk of the material in the Brenda W. Clough papers are her manuscript drafts and proofs and background research which is significant in highlighting the novel writing life cycle from start to finish. In addition to her hand drafts and typed manuscripts, there are also accompanying research and maps associated with some of her major series. Publications include book reviews written by Clough. All of these are organized under the series Manuscripts and published works and organized by story-subseries. Biographical / Historical
Brenda W. Clough is hailed as the first Asian American woman author of science fiction (Clough describes her writing as Historical Science Fiction) and fantasy, first appearing in print in 1984. Clough is the other of thirteen novels, fifteen short stories, and twelve non-fiction works. Clough spent most of her childhood overseas, living in places such as Laos, the Phillipines, Europe, as well as many years in Washington D.C. Her novella May Be Some Time was a finalist for both the Hugo and Nebula Awards which became the novel Revise the World.
