The print depicts ornamental colored markings surounding a black and white photographic portrait of a child in the center. The poem reads "face to face with this moment - a sudden child - Irma already - art by way of Vienna - to Vienna where the orient would reach art - came like a cloud - let me accept its reflections." Scope and Contents The poem reads, "I knew the feelings, the sentiment of my genuine self - love is all - libera me - is the pain you preach love! - be bound toge by all the liks of love, - I separa me kind minister - libera me so I shall make my service." The image of this page depicts a stylized Crucifix with a label in gold leaf entitled "Sterne." This refers to Laurence Sterne (November 24, 1713 "“ March 18, 1768), an Irish-born English novelist and an Anglican clergyman. He is best known for his novels The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman, and A Sentimental Journey Through France and Italy; but he also published many sermons, wrote memoirs, and was involved in local politics. Sterne died in London after years of fighting consumption. Two volumes of Sterne's Sermons, which were conventional in both style and substance, were published during his lifetime; more copies of his Sermons were sold in his lifetime than copies of Tristram Shandy, and for a while he was better known in some...

Scope and Contents This drawing relates to Marvin Sackner's seventieth birthday. The background appears to be a wall of a mosaic with tiny colored square elements in a whorling pattern. In its middle, the whorls form the number "70." The poem reads "M S - quaint merald art - bassy art, - sip and scan the names and the quaint arch of the tab - and the card from quaint artist near them - memory, turning seventy - with a muse of quaint treated news." In this poem, M S stands for Marvin Sackner. "quaint merald art" signifies either unusual in a pleasing way, messenger (merald = herald) of art or wise (archaic meaning of quaint) messenger of art. "bassy art" indicates low pitched art, i.e., not in the main stream. "sip and scan the names and the quaint arch of the tab" refers to perusing the catalogue of the Sackner Archive. The background for the text in large letters is NIMS, Non-Invasive Monitoring Systems, the company of which Sackner was the founder and former chairman of the Board of Directors. The page depicts a face with a haze obscuring it (Tom Phillips?) in its center surrounded by rows of face-like images that have been copied from London water pipe covers and resemble African masks. The poem reads, "art impulses - the impulse to complete - as the impulse to figure this last image - of dispair he began to shape - a whole volume of secret faces." Tom Phillips rediscovered these preliminary pages after they had been misplaced for 25 years and gifted them to the Sackner Archive. The image has a light pastel purple background with a pastel brown vertical line dividing it. The poem reads:"thing and one thing only wince at recording; and sullied her whole life. was a single kiss on the interesting boy.- Tell me, how deep in the mud must a woman walk before a man walk in the mud - he wants her the dephts. Tom Phillips rediscovered these preliminary pages to A Humument that had been misplaced for 25 years and gifted them to the Sackner Archive. Recto-verso pages 29 and 30 are collaged with text from the other found pages of a Humument and are collaged vetically onto the pages. In page 30 there are 29 lines cancelled or partially so in scribbles. Page 19 reads:"said the lover, as he produced his own--a gorgeous product of Vienna--and offered it distended to the Englishman. - one of lover always one of - the great Fanny." Page 20 reads: "leather, produced a photograph of a lady with bare shoulders," - searching his bag for the type of the female picture of a completely Englishman's extreme -" A part of page 29 reads: The Englishman wondered opposite to you. Then, lifting but the next moment discovered towards his wife, he put his hand on her a lover had found air of devotion, and said to gamble in." -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
