The twenty-four screenprints alternate with twenty-four pages of Hebrew text that are printed randomly on translucent mat flic (artist's term for a type of plastic) in varyied dimensional typefaces. The hard cover book includes 15 hieroglyphic drawings uilizing Scherstjanoi's own alphabet that is explained in the book. The poem-drawings are sound poems. Scripps College Typography Class: Dorothy Drake and the Scripps College Press. / Judy Harvey Sahak., 1992
This chapbook is a collaborative class project which describes the origins of the Scripps College Press. It is based on the talk delivered by Judy Harvey Sahak in 1992 at the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Press. It was edited and arranged by the typography class consisting of Reika Go, Natalie Hamner and Penelope Willard with the assistance of Professor Kitty Maryatt. The contents consist of the correspondence between Frederic W. Goudy, designer of Scripps College Old Style, and Dorothy Drake, college librarian. Goudy wrote to the class in 1939 that Dorothy Drake "will present craft & craftsmanship in a manner to inspire you for good books & for the details of their making." Included with several handwritten letters from Goudy to Drake are drawings of letter designs and a portrait. The introduction indicates that the theme of this book is the idea of constant change, particularly on how to write text which requires typographic change throughout each section of the book. In addition to a section contributed by each of the six participants, there are five pop-up pages spaced throughout the book which reflect a collaborative text on the theme of dream versus reality. Such topics as color and emotion, and insomnia are explored. This book was written and designed by the Scripps College typography class under the direction of Kitty Maryatt. The project was to make "Chinese" (in this case Western) spirit papers from handmade paper with the students adding elements to the pulp as a way to insert small poignant messages each wrote for this project. Chinese spirit papers were burned in ceremonies to honor ancestors. Several examples of handmade paper were used throughout the book. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.

Seilles's two page letter to the Sackners details her trials of readjusting to life in France, her artistic work and concern for her health. She is pleased to hear that the Sackners saw her exhibition in the Janet Fleisher Gallery in Philadelphia. The collaged pages of found scraps of paper include a cutting from the Sackner Archive stationery.
